All these problems - Error communicating with the host computer, Can't open: files.modthesims2, nothing happening when you click the red Q - are just caused by the incredible amount of traffic MTS2 is getting over the holidays. The fileserver is struggling along and downloads are very slow. Just try again in a few days time Wink

Hi there, was wondering if you could help me with something?  I had been queueing things up to install all afternoon (a couple hundred files I think).  When I hit the Install button, I got hte "An error occurred in communicating with the host computer" message.

But now, how do I resume installing what was queued up?  I'd hate to try and remember everything I wanted to download, and then spend the next few hours finding and re-clicking everything!

And I just realized that I'm running the last version, 1.1.8.  Also, the last time I closed QXpress, it lost everything I'd had queued up.  -_-   So I'm scared to close it down now, but I can't figure out how to get it to resume installing what had been queued when it ran into the error (which I'm guessing is because MTS2's downloads are offline for the server upgrade).

I found a ton of .zips and .rars in the Q-XpressInstaller\downloads folder, but I'm not sure why they're there.  The current file that QXpress shows under Installation Progress is not in that folder, so I guess those aren't the files currently in queue?

Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks!

if anyone still reads this...

i'm new and I have the same issue as liljadefern... it's no longer the holiday season, so I'm sure that's not the problem at this time... i'm new to this program, and after using it for the first time, i queued up about 75 items (lol), and it was working fine until about 25%, then it stopped at one of the items, and said "An error occured in communicating with the host computer". I have no idea what that means or what to do... is there a way that I can fix this or skip the file? And if I hit "Stop Install", does that mean that I lost all the items I queued? Because I really don't want to have to waste another 3 hours trying to find all the objects i want  Sad

I would appreciate the help =)

Q-Express hasn't been working for me, either, and it's so easy to use...downloading straight from MTS2 is so slow. D;

I looked at the "how to fix your Q-Express" thread, and I decided to try, but then I found that I didn't have a "debug.xml" or "history.xml" file.  I remember Q-Express giving me a few errors when I installed.

Error one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qerror1.jpg)
Error two (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qerror2.jpg)
Error three (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qerror3.jpg)
Error four (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qerror4.jpg)
And error five. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qerror5.jpg)

When I go into C:\Program Files\Mod the Sims 2\Q-Express, this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Nita-Chan/qb4dl.jpg) is what I see.  I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. It worked fine before I got my new graphics card, but I refuse to believe the graphics card is the problem.  It's pretty much impossible to install it wrong if you let it do it's thing.  It's just clicking next and finish. xD  But I don't understand why it wouldn't work...it worked fine on my last screen name.  It doesn't work on ANY other screen name but my very first one, which I had to delete because it didn't have a start/tool bar, and it's incredibly hard to use a computer without either of those if you're not-so-computer smart like me. o_o  Anyway, I hope someone can solve this problem for me. <3

Oh, and I do have the latest version.  Or I would if it installed right. xD  I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this problem...I thought I was. x3;;

I'm having trouble buying that this problem is a product of it being too busy. For the last few days i have been getting this issue and it doesn't make sense. I try like every few hours, and if the problem were that it is too busy, by chance sometime it would let me be a part of that busyness and let me download things and make other people wait, but it doesn't. What's the deal here?

Also did the red Q's at MTS2.com disappear for anyone else?

I thought the problem was because it was really busy.

Even if it was busy you would get in sometimes. There is something more to this.

The Reason You Guys Are Getting Errors Is Because One (Or Maybe More) Files In The Que Have Something Required To Use Them. Even If It Is Only One File That Has This Required For It The Requirement Must Be Installed To Continue The Installation. Wink

P.S. In Shorter Words The Requirement Would Be Like SimPe, Or Something Like That, Because Without That It Can't Look Like It's Suppose To. Wink

P.S.S. For liljadefern And lollywolly
